This is the second or third call that I’ve had this winter on a Smooth 5.45 Treadmill, all with the same issue. The treadmill stops during use due to a bad motor control board.
The cause is believed to be due to lack of lubrication to the belt and deck causing increased friction, thus a great amp draw through an apparent sensitive or weak motor control board causing it to fail.
To add to the bad situation it the replacement cost of the MCB which is about $400,00, plus shipping, plus installation. Thus I am not a big fan or Smooth Fitness Treadmills.
